Marc Yankus' training as a painter is apparent in his atmospheric photographs. Yankus incorporates textures that he scans from a variety of materials, many of them archival, into his photography to produce foggy landscapes that linger in the mind. The lights of the city are dimmed, but not extinguished, providing a focal point of colour in the hazy settings. The marriage of old and new is a blend of soft focus, scratches from flea market tintypes and subtle patterns from the musty pages of old books.
